Hi all!

I spent today shooting three fun DIY Asian Mixology videos with Elton of Boba 7 that will teach you all how to create amazing Asian-inspired mixed drinks at home!  Elton is considered a pioneer in Asian mixology and Boba 7 is the home to all of his unique alcoholic boba creations, his two most popular being Green Tea Heineken and Horchata Boba.  We thought it would be fun to ask Elton to teach us how to create our own fusion drinks at home—hopefully these videos will inspire you to create your own original concoctions!

The three drinks we’ll feature in this set of videos are: Nutella Milk Tea (non-alcoholic), Watermelon Boba Martini (or Boba-tini, as I’d like to call it), and Ginger Beer Soju with Green Apple Jelly.  (Photos from the 626NightMarket Instagram)

Ginger Beer Soju

According to the number of Instagram likes (often an accurate indicator), it seems that Nutella Milk Tea is the people’s favorite out of the three.  Although I couldn’t deny the deliciousness of hazelnut-chocolate magic in milk tea, I have to say that my personal favorite was the Ginger Beer Soju w/ Green Apple Jelly!  Yes, it was my first time trying Ginger Beer (it’s non-alcoholic on its own, btw) and yes, I absolutely loved it.  Tastes like a mix of ginger ale and Sprite.  The kick of soju with the candy-sweet green apple jelly really brought this drink home for me.  Nonetheless, they’re all amazing and you all should try to make them (when the videos come out) and be your own judge!

How to make Nutella Milk Tea, aka #Bobatella

Let’s get creative!  In honor of the upcoming 626 Night Market events serving beer & spirits, we decided to collaborate with Boba 7 to create a series of DIY Asian Mixology videos!  Although this particular mix is non-alcoholic, we’re sure that Nutella Milk Tea will win over your hearts and tastebuds (if it hasn’t already).  Learn how to make your own today!

Ingredients:
Lipton Tea
Coffee Mate
Nutella
A Cocktail Shaker
Hot Water
Ice
Stirring Utensil

Instructions:

Step 1: Steep the Lipton tea for 3 minutes.  Then, let it chill.

Step 2: Put 2 tbsp. of Coffeemate into the cocktail shaker.

Step 3: Add 2 tbsp. of hot water and stir well.

Step 4: Scoop a “fat spoonful” (or two) of Nutella and mix it in with the milk.  Really, add as much Nutella as you’d like.

Step 5: Add Ice and Tea to the cocktail shaker.

Step 6: Shake!  Then pour into the cup with the boba in it.

Ta Da!  You have now created awesome.

We hope this inspires you to create your own version of Nutella Milk Tea at home and maybe even conjure up an original Asian mixology drink of your own!  If you decide to be so brave, post your pictures on Instagram and hashtag #BuildaBoba so we can see your creations.

Boba Personality

What boba drink are you?  We got together with Elton of Boba 7 to create this fun boba personality infographic.  This infographic was inspired by our friends, growing up in the 626, and observing how a person’s boba order reveals something about their personality.  I find it so entertaining because I can name a person I know for each drink on this infographic (I was likely thinking of them while writing up these descriptions hehe).  Can you?  ;)
